Project Title: To understand methods used to enhance awareness about and promote action for biodiversity conservation among students and the general public in the U.S.
Abstract of Project :
Environmental Education is emerging as one of the important and effective approaches to protect biodiversity. Under my Fulbright grant, I intend to understand the methods being used to enhance awareness about and promote action for biodiversity conservation among two major groups--school students and the general public in the U.S. I wish to interact with Dr. Leslie Gray and her colleagues at the Environmental Studies Institute, Santa Clara University, visit some leading environmental NGOs and local schools. ASED conducts action-based biodiversity conservation programs with youth and public awareness programs. The experience gained through the Fulbright Fellowship will help me to scale up our present work and develop more programs for West Bengal and other parts of India.
